Dwarf Car racing first began around 1984 in Phoenix Arizona. It started out as a hobby for people who did not want to keep up with the increasingly higher cost of the full size race classes. The cars were built in home garages out of scrap and spare parts. The hobby grew rapidly, particularly in the southwest.
The reasons for the growing popularity of Dwarf Car racing can be attributed to several factors:
